Introducing "Politics Schmolitics"

This is the inaugural post on "Politics Schmolitics", and, as such, deserves to introduce "the players". Each bring his or her own special political axes to grind. Many of them are highly educated, successful, and bull-headed. Most went to The College of William & Mary. A few have been to jail. One of them in particular is full of opinions: Pete. I mean Ryan. No, Dave. Todd too. Oh, and Clay. Did I metion Aimee? Yeesh. What a bunch:
  1. On the Right...
    • Ryan
    • Randy (AKA "Mary Matlin")
    • Clay
    • Todd (AKA "Budlong")
  2. In the Middle...
    • John (AKA "Anton")
    • Dave
    • Jeff (AKA "Fox")
  3. On the Left...
    • Pete
    • Rob (AKA "Harris")
    • Sean
    • Aimee (AKA "James Carville")
    • Karin
    • Shanan

Todd, in my mind, you've ALWAYS been a "blogger". Or some other word that ends in "-er".

I would like to see a valid argument against tort reform/caps on punitive damages. My feeling is Bush will go after the lawyers who constantly solicit clients in civil class action suits (not a day goes by without a lawyer commercial on MSNBC), capping the awards, and following that, he will go after the insurance companies who constantly increase premiums with almost no regard to proportionate or reasonable increases.

Swampdragons??? Sheesh, Shanan, I thought I was the dork of this crew. 500 e-mails . . . that's impressive.

I noticed in your e-mail to us that you reserve to right to censor our blogging, Sean. Fascist. ;)

I have a small favor, Mr. editor in chief: Can you change the "has" in your heading (following my friends) to "have" for me? 2.02 bitches! Who's laughing now, William & Mary!

Has anyone seen the movie The Village by M. Night Shyamalan? I like his movies a bunch, and I want to know if it's any good. Plus, Adrein Brody is in it, and that boy is a pimp, yo!

How many consecutive posts will it take to get me censored? Am I getting close yet? And I have a question about blogging protocol: Is drunken blogging welcomed, or frowned upon?

Thoughts:

1. Drunken blogging? Sure, as long as the cops don't pull you over while you're doing it.
2. 'Has' to 'have'? Done. And thanks.
3. Jack's inability to blog and practice law? Unfortunate -- if he could, I'd say sign him to a 2-year contract.

I just read an article regarding the tsunami disaster, in which a "clarevoyent" former meterologist (who has just been reinstated, by the way) is blaming the U.S. for not warning the devestated nations following the earthquake (apparently, we have some monitoring station in Hawaii). I'm all for global cooperation, but laying blame on us because these nations are too busy lining their pockets with tourism revenue rather than developing their own sophisticated monitoring stations is crap!

I have a bogging side note I'd like to make: certain invited members to this post are reluctant to include their comments because of the availabilty of these comments to people on the web. I think that's a shame, that as a soceity, and as friends, we can't speak our minds freely among each other without being concerned how these comments will be received at large and how they may be used against us in future endevours (i.e. political mud slinging). I don't blame the individuals who are refraining from this post, mind you, merely, I think the whole concept of "being monitored by big brother" is appalling. Screw you big brother!! (Doh, I hear sirens ;X )

Hey Todd, fascinating comment re: folks being scared of blogging/commenting. Who's concerned? Clay? Randy? Others?

I have news for them: what they've said in email conversations is a) hardly private and b) no less admissible in the "court of pulbic opinion" than what they'd blog. And, oh yeah, this blog isn't exactly wonkette.com or something -- basically the only people that know about it are those of you that been invited!

OK, fair enough. But why is/was he a living God? Who decided to begin worshipping him?

Thanks, Shanan, for introducing me to a religion with rituals I can embrace. I have found God!
