File Under "Too Little, Too Late"?
From NPR:
Progressives are taking a page from conservative politicians and are creating and supporting progressive think tanks, training young activists, and building a progressive network.Hmmm, weren't conservatives doing this in like... 1950?

What I still don't understand is why the Democratic Party continues to define itself through attacks on the Bush administration and the GOP. I don't see this as a successful long-term strategy, nor do I see it really resonating with the public at large. People already know what they don't like about the current admin/GOP. Why not tell us what makes them different, how they would do things if they were in power, how they could work together with the GOP, etc? In education, we'd call this positive practice--focusing on what they can and will do. If the Dems really want to put someone in the White House in 2008, they need to give us a better reason to vote for their candidate than just he/she's not Republican.
I couldn't agree more. The Democratic Party has, and has had, a total crisis of and in leadership, vision, direction, and essential purpose. It's a dead party right now, and I'm not seeing much cause for hope.
