Not to be repetitive, but...NOOOOOOO!!
Please God, don't let this happen.
We are a group of friends and acquaintances -- a merry band of pranksters indeed -- who have been arguing about politics on-and-off, then really on, then a little off... since 1998. On email. But that meant literally thousands of emails a year. That was too many. So here's the blog dedicated to carrying on that spirit of political and pop culture argument and dialogue. You might think of us as "schmoliticians", because while we take politics seriously, we try not to take ourselves quite so.

Great, so now Allen can try to destroy the entire country's education system, instead of merely attempting to run VA's public universities into the ground?
"I'm going to cut the financial legs out from under VA's greatest resource so that I can be popular for cutting taxes, and then let the governors who come later clean up my mess." Short-sighted schmuck of a politician.
Well, at least he's not the idiot who got rid of the car tax. Talk about a "Vote for me and there will never be homework again!", high school-grade campaign promise.
Just to clarify--no one ever really "got rid of the car tax." While that was the original intention, the Virginia General Assembly stopped the planned phase out last year or the year before and put a cap on the amount of relief tax payers receive. So, while Virginia residents do get a break/rebate/whatever you want to call it on our personal property tax (auto) bills, we still have to pay a tax which amounts to roughly half of what we used to pay (at least for this year. From what I understand, this can fluctuate from year to year as the tax base waxes/wanes, a localities share of the tax base changes, etc.)
As for Sen. McCain, I think he's too busy polishing Jerry Falwell's shoes to care much about whether Jeb enters the race or not.
True, you're exactly right Rob, the GA did "stop the madness" a couple of years back as Virginia slid towards financial chaos. To give credit where credit is due, both Gov. Warner AND the Republican-led VA Senate had to put the Humpty Dumpty of VA's finances back together again after two straight irresponsible governorships.
