Its Springtime in DC!

The air is getting warmer, the cherry blossoms are about to bloom, and the sweet sounds of Republicans invoking the Fifth Amendment can be heard floating in the breeze...

Sing it with me: "Zippity do da, zippity yay, my oh my, what a wonderful day..."

Just a little fun fact about Ms. Goodling: what law school did she go to? That's right, Regent! Here's the admissions statement from their website.

--------------

Regent Law School seeks to admit students who are serious about the critical roles they will assume as future counselors, conciliators, defenders of the faith, effective client advocates and followers of Christ.

Strong academic credentials are crucial, but Regent Law also places significant importance on the personal statement and letters of recommendation. The personal statement gives the Admissions Committee insight into the student's motivation for studying law and reveals his or her desire to receive a legal education integrated with Christian principles. Regent Law seeks men and women who are dedicated to becoming Christian leaders who will change the world for Christ.

Why choose Regent? If you are academically qualified and you desire to integrate your faith with your pursuit of a legal education and ultimately the practice of law, we invite you to apply to Regent University School of Law.

---------------

Who'd have thought someone who found this statement compelling would ever put dedication to something or someone over the pursuit of impartial justice and the law?

Ms. Goodling, ask yourself, would Jesus Christ take the 5th?

Sweet paragraph from an AP article about the situation at Justice and our favorite Regent Law grad:

"After the Senate Judiciary Committee authorized a subpoena for Goodling, her lawyer John Dowd told lawmakers last week that she would not appear. He called the congressional investigation a perjury trap for his client and said she could be in 'legal jeopardy' even if she testified truthfully."

A perjury trap? What, they're going to ask you questions that you MUST lie about? They're going to trick you into lying?

Additionally awesome is the comment that even if she testifies truthfully, she will be in "legal jeopardy". In other words, if she lies about what she did, she'll be indicted for perjury. If she tells the truth, she'll be indicted for WHAT SHE DID. Yup, sounds like 5th Amendment time to me.

Aww, poor crooked partisan hack. How could those evil Congressmen do this to you? They obviously didn't go to God's law school. Just think of this as your own little Bushie crown of thorns.

I really have nothing to say on this matter, but I felt bad for Pete that he posted the thread, responded to himself, and then responded to his response. Good arguments all the same, Petes.

Thanks for the pity post Todd. Ridiculous things just keep popping up on this deal, and I sure don't want to post more full topics on it since nobody seems interested. So I'll just keep talking to myself.

Where are the antagonistic postings of the Right? The righteous indignation of the Already Saved directed toward the Great Left-Leaning Heathen Masses? I miss angry Randy, Clay, Todd, and going way back, Ryan postings.

I'm afraid my apathy for all things political, or at least all things argued from a partisan perspective, prevents me from caring too much about the increased corruption of our government. They manipulate the masses to secure votes and mandate the criteria of the public school system to ensure the populace remains slanted to their positions. Frankly, I'm not very proud of our government, and accordingly, not very proud about being an American.
