Spreading Freedom Around the World

Except to our own Armed Forces personnel. Apparently, differing opinions and possible dissent are too dangerous for our boys over there. If its not choreographed in the White House or the Pentagon, they don't get to hear it!

Ummm. Not to be flip, but, why is this news? This quote "...the fact is, they don't want dissenting voices or any other kind of speech unless it's going to be promotional for them..." could have come from the WWII, Korea, or Vietnam eras. Nothing new here.

I really don't think dissenting propaganda (which Schultz's commentary, like the supportive commentary of Limbaugh and O'Reilly, clearly is) has any benefit to our soldiers in country. The bottom line in the Iraq ordeal is that now that we are there, we need to finish the job so we can get the hell out. Trampling soldier morale by hammering through the airwaves how unjust the war in Iraq is seen by the liberal public will do nothing to expedite this process. There will be plenty of time to voice this dissention when the soldiers don't have bullets chasing after them. Coincidentally, I make these remarks as a detractor of the Iraq War, not a supporter.

Yes, but this does not seem to be the same as those instances. This is not a situation where the Government appears concerned with anti-war propaganda or morale-deflating news getting to troops in the field. Its worried about anti-GOP news reaching the troops. The decision does not appear to have been made for morale purposes at all.

It appears that the White House wants to keep Armed Forces Radio as GOP Radio (remember, these guys vote absentee). That, I believe, makes its a distinct and different proposition from past wars, and I do not think is right.
