There are ways of telling whether she is a witch. Why do witches burn?

Because they're made of wood.

How do we tell whether she is made of wood? Does wood sink in water?

Throw her into the pond!

What also floats in water?

A duck!

So, logically...

If she weighs the same as a duck......she's made of wood.
and therefore...a witch!

So he basically got the conspiracy charge dropped because it was not on the books at the time the alleged (see, I'm playing nice, Randy ;) conspiracy occurred. IANAL, but this seems like the correct application of freedom from ex post facto prosecution.

In other words, Delay is not "not guilty", he just did (allegedly--sorry, I almost forgot that word) something scummy that was not technically against the law... yet.

"Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?"

"I am Arthur, King of the Britons."

"My Liege!"

(Sorry, couldn't resist. At least I didn't go into the whole Holy Hand Grenade monologue... "five is right out!")

OK, now you got me started...

"And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'"

"O Lord, bless this, Thy hand grenade, that with it, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy."

They investigated, indicted the suspect(s) on the charges they investigated, got into court, the extraneous charges got dismissed, and they're on pace to try the remaining charge(s) in January.

Note to Ken Starr: that's how it works when its the investigation and prosecution of an actual crime and not a political witchhunt. America wants its $50 million back. We'll have to let you keep the decade, unless Harry Potter's time amulet is real.

Kudos to local Texas law enforcement.
