We are a group of friends and acquaintances -- a merry band of pranksters indeed -- who have been arguing about politics on-and-off, then really on, then a little off... since 1998. On email. But that meant literally thousands of emails a year. That was too many. So here's the blog dedicated to carrying on that spirit of political and pop culture argument and dialogue. You might think of us as "schmoliticians", because while we take politics seriously, we try not to take ourselves quite so.
Great article from the Post on former U.S. Senator John Danforth. It examines Danforth's dismay at the total dominance of the Christian Right in the Republican Party and the country. Keep in mind, he is a minister and a Republican. Interesting stuff.

Jim Danforth is already being vilified, variously, as "not a true Christian" (i.e., not a reactionaty moralizing crusader) and "not a true Republican" (i.e., speaking against the GOP "talking points"). To me, this must mean he's a) on to something important and b) a truly courageous man.
Yeah, an Episcopal minister is "not a true Christian." Just goes to show you how narrow the narrow minds are. Always assumed you are in the fold? Think again...
