Everyone Loves Tort Reform...

Until the tort's on you! Illustrious (if evil) conservative jurist Judge Robert Bork just filed a $1 million (plus punitives) slip-and-fall lawsuit against the Yale Club in NYC for a fall he took while he was there to give a speech.

His injuries appear to be a really bad bruise, although I defer to any medical personnel who could correct me on this. He has hired one of the most respected (and expensive) firms in the country to pursue this case. I guess now that Johnny Cochran's passed away...

Wow. Shouldn't judges hate this sort of shite?

I don't know, Josh. You heard about the DC judge who was suing the dry cleaners for losing/damaging his favorite suit? Judges are just lawyers in fancy robes. They are all ambulance chasers at heart. ;-)

What I found most fascinating about that article was the comments section afterwards. Some of them were actually quite funny, and some raised interesting points. For example, why did Bork attempt to climb up on the dais if it appeared too high and there were no steps or handrail provided? Isn't it at least partly his fault for falling then?

Since Harris mentioned the comments, I got this article from a blog called Above The Law (www.abovethelaw.com). Its a quirky legal blog that basically functions as a legal tabloid. The guy who writes it got famous (in the legal world) for an earlier, anonymous blog called Underneath Their Robes.

Its an interesting read many times, although one of its main functions is salary tracking (which nobody will really care about).

But generally there are a lot of links and threads about weird legal cases or crazy lawyers, judges, etc. I'd recommend.
