The Gay Marriage Threat

From the DC blog The Rock Creek Rambler, a post about gay marriage that made me laugh and shake my head.

Thoughts?

Privatize marriage now.

Agreed. Marriage should be privatized. Although, there would have to be some legal standing for which couples could apply for tax, beneficiary, survivorship, end-of-life, custody, and insurance issues. Maybe state-sanctioned civil unions with limited scope for whomever wants 'em.

BTW, loved the Rock Creek Rambler post. It really is amazing how ridiculous the religious right has become. They have completely lost touch with reality. Must be that the gay marriage-induced global warming has fried their brains.

My absolute fave: "...the most compelling argument is the semantic argument. We can't let gay marriage happen or else your mom and dad will turn into words. And you don't want that. You can't hug a word, or borrow its car keys. A word isn't going to pay your college tuition."

Good stuff.
