Okay, Schmoliticians, what do you think?

In case he bugs you too much, and you were unable to watch his speech last night, the president not only admitted responsibility in the federal government's slow response to the disaster in the Gulf, he admitted that it brought up many difficult issues: racism, poverty, the inability of the government to effectively respond to a national crisis. He also mentioned several initiatives he is proposing to help improve these problems. So, what do you think?

I'll go first. I thought the president said a lot of things we needed to hear. If he can do what he is proposing, it would be great. Unfortunately, he also said a lot of things Americans needed to hear after 9/11, and look where we are now. I would sleep a lot better if I trusted this guy and his cronies to the right things, but based on past experience, I don't.
At least, he is recognizing that he needs to change his tune from one of arrogance (remember when he couldn't think of any mistakes he had made in his entire first term) to one of contriteness.
That is a word, by the way.

You know what I think? Too f*cking little, too f*cking late. They screwed up before, during, and after Katrina. Are they the only ones to blame? No way. But with all the other asinine "priorities" he has this nation tackling at great cost, Katrina threw his incompetence into stark relief. At this point, all the concilliation in the world (plus some) wouldn't repair, for me, the vast ill will he, and his disgusting, un-American regime-- err, Administration, have caused this nation. He is awful. And he wouldn't be saying any of this sh*t if his approval rating wasn't his lowest EVER. Color me not only unconvinced, but actively angered.
