What's wrong with this picture?
Here is a link to an article from the Salt Lake Tribune describing how trained firefighters being deployed to Louisiana are being used as FEMA Community relations representatives, handing out fliers with FEMA's phone number on it. Now, I'm not going to pretend like I'm some kind of "disaster expert", but it seems to me there might be a better way to use these guys' skills. Maybe?

Yet another misallocation of resources. I noticed something yesterday that has me kind of angry. Have you seen the evident rift between the mayor of N.O. and the governor of Louisiana? They can't seem to get on the same page at all. When a community looks towards it's leaders for confort and direction, the last thing they should have to deal with is what comes across as a power struggle. I'm feeling less inclined to blame the federal government for their shortcomings having witnessed this obvious ineptitude within the state.
Not to be overly simplistic, but this is how I feel:
Federal gov't = FAILED BEFORE & AFTER HURRICANE
State & Local gov't = FAILED AFTER HURRICANE
