Daily WTF?! Taliban Democrats

I don't quite understand the metaphor... WTF is a Taliban Democrat? Aren't the Taliban actually right-wing religious fundamentalists?

Faulty metaphors aside, I really don't like to see this kind of bullshit. Neither do I like to see people compare Bush to Hitler, in case you were wondering. I really don't see how this rhetorical blowhardism accomplishes anything except making the left and the right hate each other more than they already do.

So WTF?

Josh, I couldn't agree more with your assessment. It's shameful, honestly. Apparently, according to his bio, "Cal Thomas is America's most widely syndicated op-ed columnist. 540 newspapers in the United States and abroad carry the column, now syndicated by Tribune Media Services in Chicago." There's more about him here and here. Oh, and an interesting tidbit here.

Cal Thomas is part of the problem of elevating sensationalism. He's certainly not alone.

Speaking of Hitler, is anyone else familiar with Godwin's Law?

My personal favorite quote from the article is this:

"But they have now morphed into Taliban Democrats because they are willing to 'kill' one of their own, if he does not conform to the narrow and rigid agenda of the party's kook fringe."

Yeah, like THAT statement couldn't be turned around and used on the Religious Right. Wonder how an R who ran around voting against the war, opposing W at every turn, opposing arch-conservative judicial nominees, held fundraisers at NARAL, and talked up the joy of being gay would do in his, say, Alabama primary. Silly.

That's the trouble with fringes.

Viva la third party!

McCain-Lieberman 2008!

Amen, brother. I'd vote for that ticket in a heartbeat, I really would...

I might vote for McCain, not Lieberman.
