Porn Culture
There's a series of articles (scroll down to "Feature: Porn Culture") in this month's Utne about "porn culture" and its effects, good and bad, on society. I found the perspectives fairly complelling and thought-provoking. Did anyone else?
Is porn, on the whole, good or bad for society? For individuals?

I feel so bad for porn, no one wants to comment on you, old friend. I love Utne and did not read the article on porn, but agree it was insightful and thoughtprovoking as only they can be.
I actually love porn yet believe it is ultimately harmful to individuals. I think that like all business based on selling images (Hollywood, music, magazines, clothing, etc), porn creates an ideal that can't be achieved in real life. Luckily I don't aspire to having a "porn star" FB or BF, so I can still fantasize about my friends for pleasure, but how difficult to have to live up to those standards. We can't all be Chad Hunt.
Which brings me to another rant I have about image. Why do famous people feel like their hair shouldn't thin or turn gray (Mick Jagger, Bono, etc etc etc)? Those pictures of the Rolling Stones with skin like raisins and pitch black full heads of hair creep me out. You're over 100 now, certainly no one will think less of you if your hair is also old?
Which brings me back to porn. I also love those sites that show Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConneghy (sp?) "exercising" together without shirts on and all super-sweaty.
They exercise together? No way! I did see a picture of them drinking together, which amused me. Are they romantically linked? It's spelled "McConaughey" for what it's worth... his character David Wooderson in Dazed & Confused was, and is, brilliant. Speaking of which, he's not brilliantly tall, apparently. This website is a pretty funny attack on celebrities who wear lift shoes and boots to make themselves look taller.
As always, Perez has us covered here. http://www.perezhilton.com/topics/matthew_mcconaughey/ will provide the history of their "friendship." Matthew looks very good without his shirt on, and does some serious yoga.
