Speaker Pelosi and the big tent D's
A show of hands...
I'm curious to know what feelings our D-leaning Schmoliticians have for Pelosi. Granted, she has been cast as a villain in the eyes of most of the R universe, but where does she fit in from the vantage of the D's?
Is she what you want? Some may think that such a (potentially) polarizing Speaker would help another R victory in the White House.
She's been a very loud minority party leader. Will she have to change her tone to keep it together, or shall the lefty-left keep marching on with this new momentum?
She's certainly going to be more interesting than Hastert. She'd have to be.
So, is she good for the Democrat Party? Is she good for America? What say you D Schmoloticians?

She'll moderate, mark my words. It's one thing to stand on the outside of the tent looking in and lobbing stones (even if those are righteous and correct stones to throw) -- it's another thing entirely to help put up, and keep up, the tent itself.
Oh, by the way, she's kinda hot, in an old lady pol from Cali kinda way.
It'll be interesting to see if she can, and will, moderate. Newt couldn't, and it eventually cost his party the Presidency and him his job.
Well, of course she's been a vocal minority party leader--that's kind of her job, to be the counterpoint to the majority party, to voice her party's position/platform/opposition. She's very smart and an experienced politician. She's already made overtures to the president. I don't think she'll shy away from setting a strident agenda, but I also think she's willing to work in a spirit of bipartisanship. I think she also knows that the Dems have been handed a golden opportunity here. The country was dis-satisfied with the way the administration and the GOP were running things and they voted for a change. If the Dems can show the American people they made the correct choice by steering us in a new, better direction, they're going to be awfully hard to beat in 2008. What they do in the next two years (which isn't a whole heck of a lot of time) will make or break their chances of putting a Dem in the White House. Pelosi knows that and she'll act accordingly.
